Rock delivery underway - Upper Buller stopbank
Quick update
Some Westport residents may have noticed an ever-growing pile of large rocks on part of the O’Conor Home land.
There are about 2,000 tonnes of rocks there – out of an eventual tally of around 20,000 tonnes. They are intended for use, down the line, to reinforce the banks of the Buller River by the Home with a rock revetment wall.
This work will form part of the Upper Buller stopbank.
A consenting plan is in progress for the Upper Buller section of stopbank, tying that work in with protection for Carters Beach. The Upper Buller stopbank is likely to be constructed in 2026/27 financial year.
